Baby Boy had his MRI last night. His neuro-psychiatrist called today after reading the radiologist’s report. MRI shows a previous stroke that is 2-5 yrs. in age. That correlates with the onset of his mood disorder symptoms. The MRI also shows signs of a degenerative brain disorder. What sort, we don’t know yet. This also means that the mood disorder things are quite possibly not organic in nature as in bipolar or schizo-affective but something to do with this degenerative thing. The doctor is going to be reviewing the films on Monday morning and setting us up with a referal to a pediatric neurosurgeon. He said it will be one at Emory or Savannah (guessing Johns Hopkins Children’s). We’ll know more about the degenerative part possibly on Monday if not we’ll wait and see what the specialist he is sending us to says it is.
