This is the day your life will surely change
Song of the Day February 22nd, 2007When I have trouble getting my rear in gear in the morning, this is the song that jump-starts the coffee for me.
This Is The Day
The The
Well, you didn’t wake up this morning because you didn’t go to bed
You were watching the whites of your eyes turn red
The calendar on your wall is ticking the days off
You’ve been reading some old letters
You smile and think how much you’ve changed
All the money in the world couldn’t buy back those daysYou pull back your curtains
And the sun burns into your eyes
You watch a plane flying
Across a clear blue sky
This is the day
Your life will surely change
This is the day
When things fall into placeYou could’ve done anything If you’d wanted
And all your friends and family think that you’re lucky
But the side of you they’ll never see
Is when you’re left alone with the memories
That hold your life together … like glueYou pull back your curtains
And the sun burns into your eyes
You watch a plane flying
Across a clear blue sky
This is the day
Your life will surely change
This is the day
When things fall into placeThis is the day your life will surely change
This is the day your life will surely change
This is the day your life will surely change
This is the day your life will surely change

You’re welcome. I didn’t even know that there’s an M&M commercial. I’ve just loved The The for many years. Guess that explains the hits this page is getting.
Oh, and btw, go compliment the youtube.com member who put the video up, it’s their hard work not mine>

I remember this from my college days at Wellesley. All the history and dates would be appreciated, because I really like the song then and especially the lyrics. And for every young person, growing, learning, this should be a mantra….!!! And of course as we all get older we still need to be reminded to grow and change! Thanks a lot!

This song only hit #71 on the UK charts in 1983 and never touched the US charts. You wanted more info? Clicky! Wikipedia is a wonderful thing.

love it - listened to it so many years ago and couldn’t place it when I heard it on the commercial. This is the first thing that popped up when I googled it. Awesome as I might have said a generation ago!

The The was and is still amazing. Hard to believe so many years have passed since it was first recorded but it’s timeless and obviously the M&M-Mars advertising company recognized that fact.

Hello,
I can’t tell you how happy I was to hear this song on your website–I didn’t think I’d ever hear it after the M&M commercial. This band and others like them were a big hit when I was in college way back when. Brings back so many memories. Thanks again and for whom ever put the music and video up.
