Never Again…
Life, Rants April 10th, 2008…Will I be suckered in by WalMart.com’s offer of free shipping by way of their Site-to-Store service. The waiting period is agonizingly slow. And I am being bit in the arse by my own frugality everyday that passes that I do not receive the email letting me know that my order has arrived for pick-up at my store. One part of my order left the sorting facility in SC on the 4th and its status has been listed since then as as “in route to delivery facility.” For those of you with rudimentary geography skills that know I live in middle Georgia, you might find yourself as perplexed as I am. It would seem that somewhere between South Carolina and our chosen store in Macon, there is a Delivery Facility and so far that one portion of the order has been in route to that delivery facility for six freakin’ days!
The other portion of the order is listed as having been shipped and “in route” to the “sorting facility” since the 4th. This has gone beyond ridiculous. And I can honestly say this is the first time my frugality has bitten me in the ass. I just have this gut feeling that when the items finally arrive at our store for pick-up something is going to be damaged. *sigh*

Yep, site-to-store shipping took forever for us, too. I’d only tried it because I was too lazy to drive all over creation looking for winter pajamas for my son. (This was back in November when you’d think stores would be interested in moving merchandise for the holiday season so they could sell even more.) I didn’t get the things until mid-December, by which point I’d forgotten entirely about them and bought new ones. (From Target.)

When my first item arrived, a TV stand, my DH went to pick it up. He waited at the Site-to-Store pick up area for 20 minutes having rang their damn bell. He called me from the store fuming as he was leaving as no one ever came to the counter. I immediately called the store, spoke with the store manager and who in so many words accused my DH of lying because he was “right here for the last 3 hours, Ma’am and I never once heard that bell ring.” Two weeks later I got a call from Wal-Mart Corporate explaining their mistake in transport of the lamps I had ordered and to rely only on the tracking information on the website as I would most likely not be receiving an email notification and to call the store when I saw that the items had arrived for pick-up. Yet another run in with the store manager. Wal-Mart Corporate did a follow-up phone call to make sure I received the items because the moron assistant store manager that came to the counter and gave us our items (lamps) never marked them in the system has having been picked up. I do believe this was the 5th time I filed an official complaint on the way this store manager runs the store. The previous time being how on a Thursday he made the pharmacist send home all of her techs but one forcing her stop taking orders at 2:30 in the afternoon because he didn’t want any overtime to show up in his budget because he gets a bonus when he doesn’t have to pay out overtime. I was profusely thanked by the pharmacy staff, they’ve never again had to do that and the head pharmacist was contacted by Corporate and told to inform them immediately if that store manager ever did that to her again.
